Our pastor, Hee-Soon Kwon, is an acknowledged expert in teaching people how to meditate, how to pray, and how to develop more spirituality in their lives.
Hee-Soon has lived in the United States for many years. During that time she was a pastor at Methodist churches not only in California, but in Iowa and New York as well. Previously Hee-Soon was a Professor at the Methodist Theological University in Seoul, Korea, her native country.
Hee-Soon Kwon, Ph.D., obtained her first degree in Theology at the Methodist Theological University in Seoul. Since then she studied theology and psychology in the United States for many years during which Hee-Soon was awarded a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and a Ph.D. in Transpersonal Psychology.
Hee-Soon lives in the San Mateo Highlands near the church with her husband, Rev. Hong Ki Kim, Ph.D., a former President of the Seoul Methodist Theological University. Their elder daughter, Esther, is a graduate of Wellesley College, a well-known women’s college near Boston; she assists Hee-Soon at the church office and is the website editor. Helen, their younger daughter, is a Stanford University graduate and has recently graduated with a Ph.D. in American Religious History at Harvard University’s Graduate School. Starting in the Fall of 2017, Helen will be teaching at Emory University’s Candler School of Theology as an Assistant Professor of American Religious History.
